It’s quite a simple set-up, really, and I don’t want for anything. I like quite dry cymbals – things that sound quite contained. Cymbals are a mix of Zildjian Ks and As usually. They look after me really well and have done for six years – they sent me a Club kit recently, which I love. “My acoustic drums are all premier Signia Marquis. The kick drum and both snares have triggers on – just for individual samples, because we don’t tend to use loops live. I’d normally have drum triggers and a pad on the kit too, to the right of my 12” tom. I generally have 12”, 14” and 16” toms and a Noble & Cooley snare that I put on my left-hand side. “I don’t have my whole kit set up here today. This setup was described in the July, 2001 issue of Rhythm Magazine:

Phil playing the Premier Signia kit during My Iron Lung at Eurockéennes de Belfort on Jul 04, 1997. It’s possible that both kits were used in studio. While the red XPK kit was definitelty used in studio, Phil played a red Signia kit when touring in support of OK Computer. *Drum sizes are based on the red XPK kit, and may be inaccurate. Phil has used Zildjian sticks, size 5a, as well as Pro Mark Elvin Jones sticks.Ī photo of Phil at his kit during the recording of In Rainbows. However, Phil (and Colin) can be heard playing acoustic guitar on the recording of Radiohead’s Nice Dream, when producer John Leckie had all five members “strumming on the lawn with headphones on in bathing suits at Manor studios” ( source). Along with Ed O'Brien, he’s also been a part of Neil Finn’s project 7 Worlds Collide, providing vocals, guitar, and percussion. His debut solo album, Familial, was released on 30 August 2010, and his second album Weatherhouse was released on October 6, 2014. In 2017, Phil wrote the score to Polly Steele’s film Let Me Go. Phil’s talents for vocals and acoustic guitar in particular are more visible in his work away from Radiohead. The core of his setup with Radiohead is an acoustic drum kit, but to recreate songs live he often uses pads to trigger samples and provides backing vocals as well. Philip James Selway (born 23 May, 1967) is the drummer of Radiohead.
